So, I have been working with my intervention group with counting.  We have been counting by 1’s, 10’s, 5’s, and 2’s- forward and backward.  Counting, counting, counting… we have also been writing, writing, writing numbers as we are counting.  There is only so much you can do without the kids getting bored out their minds… So I thought to myself- HOW CAN I MAKE THIS FUN????

Then, after spending countless hours on the computer- I am finally finished with my Skip Counting with the Math Monsters Pack!

This packet includes 10’s, 5’s, and 2’s.  Here are a few pictures…

There are number cards.  I gave each student in the group a few cards (there are 5 kids in each of my math groups).  We practiced counting and finding the numbers and putting them in order on the floor.  You could also use a pocket chart to do this activity.  Then, after they were in order, we counted again and I would call on a student, say a number, and they would have to find that number and give it to me.  We did this until we picked up all of the cards.

This is one of the games in the packet.  There are six different number boards.  I laminated them so that the students can write on them with expo marker and then we can use them over and over again.  There are flashcards with the numbers (this one is by 5’s) that we put face down on the table.  We draw one card at a time, read the number, and if the number is not on their card, they fill it in where it should go.  We play until everyones cards are filled.  If you want to do this whole class, you can make several copies of the different boards.

This is just one of the activities in the 95 page packet.  The kids LOVED doing these activities!!  Nine out of ten of the students (struggling students) have mastered counting and writing by 10’s and 5’s.  We are now moving onto 2’s.  You can check it out here.  It is only $5.

I also have a FREEBIE to go along with this.  I made some 120 charts so that the students can see the patterns of the 10’s, 5’s, and 2’s.  There are 12 charts in all.  Click on the picture to download.

We can’t wait to master the 2’s with our Math Monster friends!!
