The “Disguise a Turkey” project is designed to encourage creativity and family collaboration. Each student will receive a packet with everything they need to get started. The goal is simple: disguise Mr. Turkey so he doesn’t get eaten for Thanksgiving dinner! Parents and children will work together to create a unique disguise, making this project both fun and meaningful.

This engaging family activity combines fun with persuasive writing, perfect for capturing the interest of young learners! Families are invited to help save Mr. Turkey from becoming the star of the Thanksgiving dinner. Using our turkey template, students will work together with their families to create unique disguises for their turkeys.

Project Overview:
Mr. Turkey is on a mission to escape his fate at the dinner table this Thanksgiving, and he needs the creativity of our students to help him blend in!

Disguise a Turkey Project – What’s Included:
Each student will receive a packet to take home to their families. This packet includes:

  • A letter from Mr. Turkey, explaining his situation and asking for help.
  • An editable version of the letter for teachers to customize.
  • A turkey pattern for families to use when creating their disguises.
  • Speech bubbles for students’ persuasive writing, where they will complete the sentence: “I am not a turkey. I am a ______ because I have ______.”

Next Steps:
Once the disguised turkeys are returned to school, students will write a persuasive piece on their speech bubbles, explaining why their turkey is not just any turkey!
